Before you buy · Check the storefront

App Store storefront and Apple ID region

This app isn’t available on the mainland China storefront. If Shadowrocket doesn’t appear in search, first check the country or region associated with the Apple ID you use for App Store purchases instead of trying more search terms. The account’s storefront determines what you can see. Your device’s physical location, system language and App Store region are separate settings. Changing the device language to English does not change the App Store purchase region.

The main button on this page links to Shadowrocket’s US App Store product page. When you open it, the App Store may show content for the storefront associated with the purchasing account currently signed in, or indicate that the app isn’t available in your country or region. Check the account region to understand these messages. Being able to open the web page doesn’t mean the account can complete a purchase. Availability for purchase is determined by what the App Store shows.

How to check the current purchasing account

  1. Open Settings on your device, then tap your Apple ID account at the top.
  2. Tap Media & Purchases, then open the account details page. Complete authentication if prompted.
  3. Check Country/Region to see which storefront is associated with the purchasing account.
  4. Return to the App Store. Confirm that the account currently signed in is the purchasing account you just checked, then view the product page.

To find the region settings, go to Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Country/Region. This is simply the location of the setting. Before making a change, review the listed requirements and check whether your account balance, existing subscriptions, Family Sharing group or payment method need attention. The account page determines the specific requirements, and not every account can change regions immediately.

Don’t treat a one-time app purchase as a reason to change your account region right away. First consider the purchase history and services associated with your account, then decide whether to make a change. If the page asks for payment details, enter valid information of your own as required by that storefront. If you see a restriction message, resolve the issue it identifies instead of repeatedly submitting the same request.

If the App Store is slow to load, first check whether other store pages open normally, then check your device’s network and App Store account status. You haven’t reached Shadowrocket’s connection setup yet. Subscription validity and the ability to complete an App Store payment are separate issues and should be troubleshot separately.

Verify the app · Check three details

How to verify the genuine Shadowrocket app

Searching by name can help you find the right app, but it doesn’t prove its identity. Similar titles or descriptions aren’t a substitute for checking the developer and app ID. Open the full product page and verify each of the following details before buying.

Developer and official icon

The developer is Shadow Launch Technology Limited. The official icon is a rocket with a blue-purple outline on a white background, matching the official icon in this site’s header. Check the icon artwork itself, not the background color or promotional text in search results.

Fixed app ID

The app ID is 932747118. The id932747118 in the product page URL is the reference for verification. The storefront portion of the URL may differ, but a different app ID means it isn’t the same app.

To verify the app, first check its name and icon at the top of the product page, then check the developer details. Finally, confirm the app ID in the product page URL. If the developer name is truncated, expand the details to see the full name; don’t rely on the first few letters. If the icon looks similar but the developer differs, or the name matches but the app ID doesn’t, return to the product link on this page and check again.

Search results may include apps with similar names and sponsored listings, so don’t decide based only on ranking. User review nicknames aren’t a reliable way to verify the app, either. Confirm its identity using the fixed details in the App Store. Descriptions, reviews and partial similarities in icon color don’t replace these three checks.

Before confirming payment, check the app name and amount in the system purchase sheet. If the amount, currency or product name isn’t what you expected, cancel and return to the product page. The App Store displays prices in the local currency for each storefront; the US reference price on this page may differ from the amount shown on your device.

Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app. App updates are provided through the App Store; check for them in the store’s app update section. Subscription updates are handled in the app. These updates apply to different things—the client itself and your existing server list—and require different steps and troubleshooting.

Primary devices · First installation

Buy, install and open Shadowrocket on iPhone

On iPhone, open the App Store product page using the Apple ID you want to keep the purchase under. Verify the app, then confirm the purchase at the price shown in the store. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements and check compatibility before paying. Don’t assume your device is compatible based only on its name or someone else’s experience.

After confirming the purchase, wait for the App Store to finish downloading and installing the app. If progress stalls, check the store message, available storage and network connection. Avoid making repeated payments. Use your purchase history and the App Store status to confirm whether the purchase went through; the app icon not appearing on the Home Screen right away doesn’t necessarily mean the transaction failed.

After opening the app for the first time, import your existing details

Installing the app only means the client is ready to use; it doesn’t automatically provide a server connection. Get existing subscriptions from your service provider and manage their import in Subscribe. If you have individual server details, open Add Server and enter the fields for the protocol you use. Check that your information is complete before importing, and don’t mistake an account management page for a subscription URL.

The first time the app establishes a connection, iOS asks permission to add a VPN configuration. This system prompt allows the app to manage the relevant network connection. Confirm that the request comes from Shadowrocket before deciding whether to allow it, then follow the system prompts to authenticate. Installing the app alone usually doesn’t complete this step, and seeing the permission prompt doesn’t mean the server has been verified.

If you previously denied permission, try connecting again in the app and check whether the system prompts you again. If the expected prompt doesn’t appear, check the VPN configuration status in your device settings. Don’t delete other configurations in bulk if you’re unsure what they do. Devices managed by an organization may also be subject to management policies; follow the applicable requirements.

Check connection setup separately from the App Store purchase

After granting permission, check the selected server and Global Routing. Config handles connections according to the rules in the configuration; Proxy and Direct serve different purposes. Don’t choose a mode at random just because you’ve bought the app. Confirm these outcomes in order: the purchase succeeded, the VPN configuration was approved, and access works as expected.

For the full steps to import, choose a routing mode and test the connection, see the Shadowrocket user guide. If installation succeeds but the connection doesn’t work as expected, follow the connection troubleshooting guide. Check the network, server details, rules and DNS in that order rather than buying the app again.

Purchased app · Check compatibility

Install on iPad and use on other Apple devices

You can install Shadowrocket on iPhone and iPad using the purchase associated with the same Apple ID; you generally don’t need to buy it separately for these devices. Refer to the App Store page for universal purchase availability and system requirements. Before you start, confirm that iPad’s Media & Purchases is signed in to the original purchasing account—don’t rely only on the account name shown at the top of the device.

Open the same App Store product page on iPad and check whether the button shows a price, a redownload icon or Open. If it still asks you to pay, don’t confirm the purchase right away. First check your original purchase history and the account currently used for App Store purchases. The iCloud account and the purchasing account may need to be checked separately. Restoring purchase eligibility depends mainly on the account that completed the original purchase.

The iPad’s larger screen means layouts and controls may appear in different places in portrait or landscape orientation, or across system versions. Identify functions by interface labels such as Home, Add Server, Subscribe, Config and Settings; there’s no need for every button to be in exactly the same place as on iPhone. The task is the same, so focus on the control name and the content you’re editing.

Having purchase eligibility for the same app on two devices doesn’t mean they share the same server list or configuration. After installation, check whether your existing data has actually been restored. If needed, reimport your own subscription or server details. Before organizing your settings, keep any working configuration on your old device until you’ve confirmed the new device works.

Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision

The compatibility section of the same App Store product page also lists Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision. To use the app on one of these devices, open its product page on that device and check compatibility, purchase availability and purchase status. Refer to the App Store page for universal purchase availability and system requirements; don’t assume the conditions shown on iPhone apply to another device.

The App Store is also the place to get the app on these devices. This page focuses on purchasing and installing on iPhone and iPad; layouts may differ across devices. When using multiple devices, distinguish app purchase eligibility from your service provider’s requirements for using an existing connection service. Check your provider’s documentation for the latter.

New device or reinstall · Restore your purchase

Restore Shadowrocket from your purchased items

When getting a new device or reinstalling the app, first restore the original purchase, then restore your connection data. Sign in with the Apple ID used for the purchase, go to App Store → Account → Purchased, find Shadowrocket and download it again. You usually won’t need to pay again. List names may vary slightly between system versions; use the app and purchase history options shown on your device.

  1. Check an old device or your purchase history to confirm which Apple ID was used for the original purchase.
  2. On the new device, check the account signed in under Media & Purchases, then find the app in your App Store account’s purchased items.
  3. Choose the redownload option for Shadowrocket, wait for installation to finish, then open the app.
  4. Check whether your subscriptions, servers and configurations have been restored. If anything is missing, import the information you saved and verify each item.

If the app isn’t in your purchased list, first check that you’re using the right account, that no list filter is active, and that the app hasn’t been hidden. If the product page still shows a price, check your purchase history before assuming you need to buy it again. Changes to the account region, purchase status or storefront availability may also affect what appears; follow the App Store prompts to investigate.

Having used Shadowrocket on another device doesn’t necessarily mean the current account has the corresponding purchase. The purchase must be verified through the account that completed the transaction and its history—not by whether an app icon appeared before. For transaction questions, use the App Store’s purchase and account support options. Don’t send subscription URLs or server passwords as proof of purchase.

What to check after restoring the app

Restoring the app and restoring a subscription are separate steps. After opening it on the new device, check the server list, selected item, active configuration and Global Routing. If the list is empty, reimport your own subscription or enter existing details using Add Server. Get subscriptions from your service provider; if the original link no longer works, check with that provider.

If your old device still works, first confirm that you can import, update and connect on the new device before removing anything from the old one. Migration details may include subscription tokens, passwords and server information. Store them securely somewhere you control; don’t put them in a public photo library or document, or share them in screenshots.

Check the product page and the current Family Sharing account for eligibility; don’t assume every family member can restore the purchase. For instructions on updating subscription lists, see Subscribe update guide. If you already have an applicable QR code, see QR code import guide, then check the imported details.

Separate costs · Check each one

One-time purchase price and service costs

Shadowrocket is a one-time purchase on the App Store; there’s no monthly fee for the client itself. The US storefront reference price is $2.99; other storefronts show local currency. Refer to the App Store page and system payment sheet for actual pricing, taxes and purchase requirements. The reference price on this page isn’t a promise of the same final price in every region.

You’ll need to arrange your own subscription or server details separately. Get subscriptions from your service provider. Check your provider’s terms for service duration, data allowance, available regions and simultaneous connection limits. Even if a service expires, that’s separate from your App Store purchase. Conversely, an active subscription doesn’t give an account that hasn’t purchased the app the right to use the client.

Also distinguish app updates from subscription updates. App updates happen in the App Store and update the client; subscription updates refresh existing server details through in-app options such as Subscribe. If a subscription update fails, check the link and service status. If an App Store update fails, check the account, compatibility and store network. Neither issue should be resolved simply by paying again.

When buying, focus on the app’s identity, the account storefront and the final price. If the purchase is confirmed but installation hasn’t succeeded yet, check your purchase history and download status first. To move to a new device, follow the purchase restoration steps. For billing questions, check the transaction record in your App Store account for the app name, date and amount; don’t draw conclusions from a brief description in a bank notification alone.

After purchasing, note which account completed the transaction and keep your own subscription and configuration recovery details safe. The account helps you restore the app on a new device; the other details help restore your connection settings. Keeping these separate makes it easier to identify whether a price shown after purchase or an empty list after installation is a purchase issue or a setup issue.

App Store download troubleshooting

Why can’t I find Shadowrocket on the App Store?

This app isn’t available on the mainland China storefront. The country or region associated with your Apple ID determines which App Store content you can see. Check the account region under Media & Purchases, then review the product page. Availability for purchase depends on what the current storefront shows.

What if the download still won’t complete after opening the product page?

Note the exact App Store message, then check the account’s storefront, payment status, device compatibility, available storage and network connection. If you’ve been charged, check your purchase history first; don’t repeatedly confirm the purchase. Refer to the App Store page for purchase details and system requirements.

Do I have to pay again after getting a new device or reinstalling the app?

Sign in with the Apple ID used for the original purchase, find Shadowrocket under your App Store account’s purchased items, and download it again. You usually won’t need to pay again. If a price appears, check the purchasing account and purchase history. You’ll also need to restore your own subscription or server details after reinstalling the app.

Can I install it on my iPad after buying it?

If your iPhone and iPad use the same Apple ID with the purchase, you can redownload the app on compatible devices. Check the App Store page for universal purchase availability and system requirements. Verify the app purchase and the connection settings on your device separately.

Can I install it on Mac, Apple TV or Apple Vision?

The compatibility section of the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision. Check compatibility and purchase status on the device you plan to use. Refer to the App Store page for universal purchase availability and system requirements. The App Store remains the only place to get the app.

Where should I start if the app opens in English?

First, identify Home, Add Server, Subscribe and Global Routing. Manage existing subscriptions through Subscribe; enter individual server details through Add Server. Get subscriptions from your service provider. Then follow the official user guide to import your information, choose a routing mode and test the connection.
